Dear Houston Chronicle Editor,
Re: “Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund revives an old fascist playbook,” Opinion, May 21, 2026
Casey Michel called out the Kleptocrats.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche — the same man now shielding the president with pre-emptive financial pardons and managing the selective release of the Epstein files — put his name on the shush fund. The department charged with investigating corruption is run by one of its architects.
Our representatives must act. The Senate should not validate his “acting” status by granting him full title. Instead The House has the power to impeach. The Senate has the power to remove. The question is whether they have the will.
