If there’s such thing as heavy clerical work, that’s what I did today. Worked at my Aunt/Cousin-once-removed Nelwyn’s office. Moved 7 years of files from boxes into cabinets, and better boxes. A few bruises and fingernail slashes.
Shredded some DNU’s (Do Not Use) files. She runs an employment agency, and there is an amazing number of felons who apply and say they have no record, when they tell them they don’t hire anyone with a Felony conviction or criminal misdemeanor on their record.

I took my final in Secondary Methods (methods in which you can/should teach children in Secondary School (middle and high school). I thought it was super easy. I studied very little – likely made a 80-90.
I also decided to look for non-teaching pay-the-bills work. So, that’s starting monday.
The bar’s weeks from opening – almost a year of slave labor – it will be excellent (or i’ll smack you 😉

I had a nasty flu about two months ago, before the big Houston flu outbreak. Conn had it last week. I had to decide whether to hang out at home with his germs, and take it easy and stay healthy, or go out and avoid the germs and have fun. I, of course, chose the later.
I was also hoping that he had the same, non-mutated strain I had. Then Trey started getting ill yesterday. Being surrounded at work and home.
Then this morning I was feeling the telltale scratch in my throat. Cold or Flu. I went to the Continental, hoping for the best. We were ripping out the back wall and replacing it and hanging new doors. The kinda thinkg that leads to a long day and you have to finish before you leave.
Well, now I’m feeling a bit achy, very scratchy throat, and perhaps a mild fever (unmeasured). Trying to get lots of fluids, taking C and Zinc. I need to cook dinner because I have some food that will go bad, but still an early night. And no work tomorrow.

Well, Charlie’s Big Top Lounge, the current working name for my slave labor of the past 6+ months, is coming along quite well. Here’s some pictures from a few weeks ago.
Things done since then: most of the bathroom partitions, the front wall, solid with windows (old doors) hanging in them, the transoms are cleaned up and replaced, the hardwoods between the bar and rail are going in right now.
I have a midterm in my “Secondary Methods” class on wednesday. First midterm i’ve taken in… thirteen years.
Then I’m babysitting sleeping nieces because Monica & Raymond are picking up their new puppy at the airport (and the girls don’t know about it).
Should be fun to see the new puppy, if not fun to take a test.

p.s. A few weeks ago I said “Brennan’s” (a midtown restaurant), when I meant “Brenner’s” (a west-side legendary steak house).
Last weekend we put up awnings on the Continental Club (they’re not finished, yet). If you haven’t been down there this week, then you haven’t seen it. I think they really spruce the place up – not to mentione they’ll be very nice for when it’s raining out.
