Lee HS?

I was gonna spend monday calling and/or faxing schools about math jobs.  I started off the day checking the web site and there was a new listing for Lee HS.  I called them, the secretary asked around, they said they had an opening, to fax my resumé.  So, I got to a fax machine and … Read more

Truckstop Honeymoon

Truckstop Honeymoon opened up for Split Lip Rayfield last night at the CC.  A two piece hillbilly bluegrass band.  Washtub bass, and banjo.  I enjoyed them thouroughly.  Katie was 8 months pregnant. “THERE AIN’T NOTHING NICE ABOUT TRUCKSTOP HONEYMOON. Faron Young

My favorite 80’s song that Molly and the Ringwalds will never cover is Faron Young by Prefab Sprout, on their 1985 release Steve McQueen. That album was produced by Thomas Dolby, one of the best producers of the 80’s, IMHO. Apparently, SPIN magazine called the album one of the 30 best of all time.

When Love Breaks Down was a more popular song from the album, but the jangly Faron Young was always my favorite.

Artistic ‘Flower Man’ gets new house, paint job, too
By ANDREW GUY JR.
Copyright 2003 Houston Chronicle Paint cans sit on the ground, tops popped off, brushes dipping in and out. Sledge hammers lift and fall, crushing the dilapidated columns on the porch and the tile floors in the entrance. Workers scatter, lifting, squatting, brushing, sweeping.

“Yeah!” the Flower Man answers.

The door is painted.

Bright yellow.

“This is the only yellow that will bring out the life of this dead house,” the Flower Man says. “And it brightens up this corner.”
