I decided it would be fun to go back and watch episodes of X Files 18 years after it started because they were available on Hulu+

X Files: 3 (s2 e7)

Summary: Vampires! (in 1994) Mulder reopens the X Files by removing the plastic coverings on the file cabinets and filing Scully’s abduction case. While working the vampire case, Mulder is wearing Scully’s necklace and behaving a bit reckless.

Location: Los Angeles, California

Coroner to Mulder as he talks about a vampire dying by exposure to sunlight: “You are really upsetting me. On several levels.”

X Files: Ascension (s2 e6)

Summary: Part 2, Scully is abducted by Duane Berry after they remove and inspect suspicious metal fragments from his body. Scully is subsequently abducted by aliens and/or the government. (a plot line necessitated by Gillian Anderson’s pregnancy) Mulder becomes suspicious of Krycek who disappears. Skinner reopens X Files.

Location: Washington, D.C.; Rixeyville, Virginia; Warrenton, Virginia

X Files: Sleepless (s2 e4)

Summary: Mulder gets tipped off to a suspicious death, and asks Skinner to be assigned to it. This leads to our introduction to Alex Krycek who assists him on the case. Participants in a sleep disorder study are being killed off mysteriously. The first appearance of Mr. X, a replacement for Deep Throat. Some indication that Scully is jealous of Mulder’s new possible partner.

Location: New York City; Stamford, Connecticut

Guest Actor: Nicholas Lea (First appearance as Krycek), Tony Todd (recently CIA Director Graham on Chuck), Jon Gries (Lazlo Hollifeld in Real Genius)

I had forgotten that the X Files had been shut down so early in the run of the series (end of the first season). The show has settled into he characters by the start of this second season. Still fighting to reinstate the X Files 4 episodes into the season (I love that it did not resolve in the first episode.)

X Files: The Host (s2 e2)

Summary: Starts off on a Russian ship with a backed up toilet. What could be more intriguing? When Dmitri goes to unplug it, he gets pulled into the tank. Mulder, performing surveillance, gets pulled off his mundane duty to investigate the corpse now in the New Jersey sewer. Mulder awkwardly charges into Assistant Director Skinner’s office to complain only to barge into a meeting.

Scully forces her way to perform the autopsy while Mulder investigates a city worker being attacked in the sewer. Mulder gets anonymous call “you have a friend at the FBI”.

Fluke Man!

And Skinner seems oddly supportive of the closed down X Files.

Location: Atlantic Ocean (off New Jersey Coast); Newark, New Jersey; Lake Betty Park

Aside: Apple TV had a recent upgrade that allowed access to Hulu+. Of course, AT&T sucks and I had to reboot my modem to get the streaming working to watch this one.
