rotting flesh flower

Amorphophallus titanumThere was one of these at the national arboretum a year or two ago.   There were huge lines to get in to see it.   I’ve always wanted to experience one, but still haven’t.   I do think I can pass on planting one in my yard, though.

An Amorphophallus titanum, known locally as a ‘carcass flower’, blossoms at the Cibodas Botanical Garden in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, Sunday, March, 14, 2004. The rare flower, which smells like rotting flesh, has set a new height record for the species, officials said Saturday. Officials at the garden on the southern outskirts of the capital Jakarta claimed this particualr flower reached a height of 9.5 feet, a new record as the tallest Amorphopallus titanum. liberal media

On Meet the Press, Bob Novac whines about the liberal media making “the conservatives” uphappy with George W’s unconservativity.

The host says, “Bob Novac, with his syndicated column,… his own TV show,… and it’s the liberal media.”

I smiled.

Mallard Fillmore

Dear Diary,
Today, er… i mean Wednesday,… Mallard Fillmore actually hinted that President George W. Bush is perhaps something less than an entirely capable first executive. I would have gone outside to see if the world had stopped spinning about its axis, but Bruce Tinsley was unable to pull the trigger without making it a joke about Democratic fiscal irresponsibility.

Mallard Filmore Feb 25 2004
As if W wasn’t the most fiscally irresponsible president we’ve ever had. At least when Democrats are spending more (on social services), they’re also raising taxes.

Up may be down, but the world is still spinning.
