It’s 10 days after Ike slammed us. Driving about town is still a hassle. It took over an hour for me to get home. It’s usually a 30-40 minute commute in the evening.
Today was the first day I’ve seen police directing traffic at the intersections. They were in dire need of doing that for days. It’s been obvious that the return of electrical service has felt painfully slow for many (about 50% of the area has been restored after 10 days).
However, power to the street signals has come faster than the city can get to them to fix them or even reset the cycles. So, they’ve finally realized they need to be directing traffic about town.
