Knudsens at Wrigley Field

My friends John and Marsha were at the game and on the television on Sunday.  They only live a few blocks from Wrigley Field, so they attend frequently.  And if the Astros are in town, it can almost be guaranteed.  I was getting ready for the Houston Roller Derby, so I missed them…

Biggio 3000

So, where where you when Biggio hit 3000? Yeah, I don’t really care, either except that I’m sure his three hits helped in the Astros win. Yah, the Astros win!

Biggio 3000

Mary O called me tonight, and has been planning her whole weekend around when Biggio might hit 3K. She didn’t want to miss it. I know she was at Sam’s Pub tonight, and I’m sure it was on tv there. But now she can get back to planning her weekend!

Me? I was actually watching a third season episode of Millennium. I just checked the web to see if he’d hit any tonight, and lo he had.

Colleyville and Arlington

I was heading for a “weekend in Dallas”. We call it that, or “DFW”. But no one up there thinks of it as one city like Houston/Clear Lake/Sugar Land/Katy/Cypress/Conroe/The Woodlands/Waller/Humble/Kingwood/ad infinitum does. It’s two or three cities depending on who you’re talking to: Dallas, Fort Worth, and the “Mid Cities”.

Friday I got out of town finally about 2pm, braved the traffic of I-45 North to head for my good friend Jen in Colleyville, Texas. I arrive to a gated street: got past it. I arrive to a locked door: note, key under mat. I call the troop who just left for Mexican food: JohnMarsha, Conn, and Jen. Continue reading

Derby Trifecta

This will be the third consecutive weekend I’ve gone to roller derby events…

haciendaTwo weeks ago, it started with a nice weekend in Wimberley with friends and board games. Unfortunately, I went a bit under the weather and there wasn’t as much beer drinking as would have been commensurate with the rest of the fun.

carcassoneLeaving Wimberley Sunday afternoon, TG and I made it leisurely and stopped at the Driftwood Vineyards. It provides a fantastic view, so after our tasting we bought a bottle of B&E Cabernet Sauvingnon (from their sister winery in Paso Robles, California), sat on a picnic bench, and played another board game (to the envy of a passing employee). Opening Day Tickets

Astros sell out season opener in 15 minutes

Well, I don’t know how she did it, but Nunnally got opening day tickets, so I’ll be there.

Just got a random call, so I’m about to head out for disc golf on this beautiful day.
