Quote of the Day of the Blogosphere:

“Although it is true that since the Middle Ages, the number of witches burned has decreased while the average temperature of the Earth has increased, global warming wouldn’t be reversed by throwing old ladies on pyres.” - Strange Maps, Transgenic Corn linked to Neo-Fascism

Themes in the Ether

This weekend I spent the weekend in Wimberley, Texas. One of the boardgames someone wanted to play was Goa - a trading game themed on the historically important region of India. But it’s a four-player game and we had five people, so it never got played. Perikles.jpgAnother that was high on the list and did get played was Perikles - by well-know boardgame designer (yes, there are a few), Martin Wallace.

On the return trip I listened to the NPR Puzzle podcast from the previous weekend. Will Shortz had just returned from some sort of puzzle tournament in Goa. The on-air puzzle was categories in C-H-A-M-P, and plays by Shakespeare was one of them. Can you name a P- play by Shakespeare?

Twenty Year Old T-shirt

tshirt.jpgWell, I finally threw away this t-shirt that I’ve had for over twenty years. It was a gift from a girl friend. She made them and sold them on the Drag to pay for her college.

It’s a long sleeved shirt, so I’ve mostly used it as an undershirt during the past winters.

But too many holes mean it has to go. Such is life.

(I’m sure there are several people who will be happy to know that I’m purging one over-worn shirt, because you know I have dozens.)

Wash That Mouth Out With Soap

flavorI bought some bargain bin bubble bath at the drug store. It’s 3•in•1: also shampoo (uh, no thanks) and body wash (I have a bar of soap).

But the most super special thing about this product: its

“NEW! FLAVOR!”

I can’t speak for its taste, but it does have a nice Jolly Rancher smell.

Skate Joust in the ‘Hood

fall

Only a few blocks to walk, plus a stop for beer on the way. A lovely sunny and brisk January afternoon. Weapons plus skates plug gravity.

The Urban Animals’ long held tradition of a Skate Joust.

Jay showed up toward the end and got a few photos.

Chase the link on the picture and you can see the rest of mine.

What was that Tupperwared Mass?

Pushed to the back on one of the lower shelves in the refrigerator was one of my larger tupperware containers. I mean tupperware in a kleenex or vaseline sense, some form of plastic sealing item, likely not Tupperware®.

It had some kind of meat and rice substance I likely made in the crock pot ages ago. But now it’s gone, and I one again have use of the massive container. Whatever shall I make six servings of now? Any I mean six American servings, which breaks down to about 15 servings as measured by the calorie counters.
