asleep to awake in 4.2 seconds

After getting home late (well, almost 11 pm), showering, cooking (swordfish steak, asparagus, brown/wildgrain rice mix), and eating, I finally got to bed about 1 am.

5:17. rolled over, eyed the clock, rolled back over, instant sleep.

7:02. morning ritual of adjusting the radio from the going-to-bed station to the waking-up station. Adjusted the covers, rolled over. Sleep.

8:00. noticed the silence, popped on the radio. rolled to my back, though about getting up, though about getting to bed late, thought about dinner, thought about the soupy rice I’d left on simmer.

jumped out of bed so fast, most people would get light headed, got to the rice, which amazingly still had moisture in it. after a good soak, the bottom of that pot should come clean. a new pot, too.

off to the salt mines,

Babysitting

I’ll be baby sitting tonight for two of three nieces (one will be asleep). So, won’t be making it out to the CC/BT Ringwald/Allen Oldies till at least 10pm. If at all.

Everyone enjoy.

late night

I’m clutzily spilling files all over the place at work. Staying out till early morning is not conducive to functional behaviour the next day.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Bar-b Que Cookoff

I’ve been to the rodeo and the livestock show bunches of times, for many years. But I’ve never been to the BBQ cookoff which happens the days before the Rodeo opens. So, I had to go when Nunnally gave me a free pass to one of the booths. (more…)

everyone loves the light rock

I ran into bunches of people at the Light Rock Express show at The Big Top, some I’d seen every day for the last five, some I hadn’t seen in a while. Michael Wolner was one I hadn’t seen in a while. I was planning on getting home before 2am, but got invited back to his place for nice scotch, some snacks and engaging conversation. As usual, it was great.

slow bus a rollin’

Nothing like sleeping in past the AM rush schedule for the busses.
Then getting in a rush to get out the door just in time to see the 9:37 go by. Now I get to wait for the 10:17.

There was aparently a bad schedule I read that led me to believe my bus ran all night. It actually shuts off at 1:00 am. Although there is a 12:58 pickup scheduled for my outbound stop, it didn’t happen last night. After the 12:45 - 1:15 wait, which was totally enjoyable, watching all the madness, giving directions, seeing people I know drive by (seems I can’t wait for the bus without doing so). Had to cab home, $10. Nice guy, though. Ex millionaire engineer. I hear your pain, Mr. Cabbie.
