Guardian of the Non Sequitur

So, my not having a job, then waiting for a job, then that job vaporizing into atoms, then me finally getting a job is a long story. I’ll tell you the ending:

I have a new job! I’m one of a few IT guys at Frazer Ltd. They are an ambulance manufacturer. They used to do oilfield stuff, but figured that people are more consistently in need of ambulatory service than of petroleum.

So, now I’m back to a 9 to 5 job – haven’t had that since last December, and a real software development position – haven’t had that since February 2001. And, if you have any hints on how to turn on these compyewters, or what all these new acronyms mean, I’d appreciate the help.

And Droubi’s (houstonpress, zagat) is just a few blocks away. Is it Mediterranean or Middle Eastern? Who cares, it’s good.

Saturday,… Saturday?! If you wanted me to read something, why did you print it on Saturday, Chronicle? Make Saturday happen during the week and maybe I’ll read it. But,…

…oh, is this thing on?

Ahem. So, as I am enjoying my Slothness and not chasing some job possibilities because I have one waiting to start. Earthlink is being all jittery like a first date. They won’t sign the papers with CenterPoint, because their requirements clock doesn’t start until they sign.

I thought they made a bad business decision when they got into this, but that’s their problem. (This technology is moving faster than the install rate.) Unfortunately, their new CEO is wary of blind, high risk growth. Maybe it’s time to look for a different job!

I think they’re going to try to renegotiate, which is only going to cost lots of time.

the humorous thing is the worst injury in the past three days was a wicked paper cut from a heavy card stock file folder, inside tip of my index finger

I’m clutzily spilling files all over the place at work. Staying out till early morning is not conducive to functional behaviour the next day.
